Albrecht Durer was born in 1471 in Nuernberg, Germany and was probably the greatest German artist of the Renaissance era.

He started painting at the early age of 13 and by the age of 40 he was known as the painter of famous people. Many of his paintings and carvings were of the rich and famous of his time including Emperors, Queens, government officials and prominent merchants.

There are four panels on this goblet depicting works by this famous Renaissance painter and engraver. Archways, steeples and and some of his most popular portraits are displayed as border decorations. Each panel holds its own interesting story.
